Tritium is a byproduct of a fission reaction, the type of which has been happening on this planet for years as a result of the magnetic core reacting with the abundance of hydrogen in the atmosphere and the Uranium on the surface.
The planet surfaces are scarred with the Tritium erosions.
You wouldn't last long here.
Enjoy the piece, I worked my ass off on the textures. It's all bump mapped.
To make this texture, i grouped about 40 different textures together into a canvas about 9000x9000px large. I then carefully erased and mixed the edges until the entire canvas was evenly mixed. That part took a couple days. I then scaled the piece into the first planet onto a 2000x3000px canvas, which was then added into a different canvas with the larger planet in the background. Yes, that is supposed to be a massive planet in the background . It's not meant show its edges on the canvas.
This will definitely be submitted to Prints, once I get the 2000x3000 version uploaded.
hey man! Well sorry you didnt make it but great to see you are willing to work for it
anyways my C&C: if this is ment to be spaceart then that is very unlcear for me.. I mean, there is no space. Your use of color is quite unique and stands out from the rest but you take it a little bit too far. There arent enough dark colors for me to actually make it space. Also there are no stars or something like it! So use more dark colors to create more space like envoirment. Then the textures are a nice job but it makes the whole piece very very flat. Ive never seen a space pic with a bg that consists of a texture. This isnt a nebula but just a texture.. that makes it look like its a planet painted on a piece of stone. So tone down the texture!
well hope it helped a bit good luck man and hope to see you areound on the forums!

I kinda agree with Akajork, but it's still a really nicely worked planet, and the colours of the background just work so well I think, maybe soften up the background textures a little? But what would I know, my space 'art' stuff is stuck in an infantile state And I haven't worked on it in ages now

totally missed that part in your description.. sorry for that.. but the fact that I didnt see that is maybe also a pointer.. cause I just didnt realize that was a planet!

i like this. i figur it's a big planet in the background? that's an interesting concept, even though i think you could have achieved a little more compositionwise. the shadow is a little too dark imo, yet it's not that it really disturbes me. but you need to work a little on getting the layers on the edge of the planet right. i can see some overlapping there.

At first I thought the background was meant to be a nebula, but I can also imagine it a planet.
It looks awesome, in any case.
keep going in this direction. nice texture btw
I tried spherizing, but that just RUINS the texture.
